Decency
Does your heart ache a little for America? Can you remember a time when you could see something besides extreme politics or the pandemic on TV?
I just watched the Netflix special of Michelle Obama’s tour for her new book, Becoming. It made my heart ache a bit. I miss normal. Wait. What? How odd that I now think of Barack Obama’s term in the White House, the very first black President, as normal. What an amazing accomplishment that was.
(What’s weirder is that I miss anything normal, but we’ll save that for later…)
After being exposed to the Tool the past four years, it’s like we have entered an alternate reality. I miss class, decorum, intelligence, empathy, progressive thinking and positive direction. Yes, I miss “No Drama, Obama.”
I think the word I am groping for is: Decency.
I read a scientific article today about NASA finding a parallel Universe. (Here’s a link for all my closet-science-geek pals: https://gadgets.ndtv.com/science/news/parallel-universe-time-runs-backwards-nasa-scientists-anita-icecube-2233371). The news agencies seized on this and reported that there was proof of a new Universe, in which all of physics laws work in reverse and time runs backwards. Of course, no one dived into the actual research or understood what really occurred.
Sure enough, I was talking to one of my peeps, who knows how much I love Physics and he started spouting the news story about this discovery. God love him. I kept my mouth shut because he was trying to connect, which I loved. I told him that I had some data on it and would send it to him later. Probably burst his bubble when I sent him information on ANITA and Ice Cube, and how the fact the two couldn’t reconcile the neutrino Does your heart ache a little for America? You see? That’s big news in my book. We don’t hear about this kind of story anymore. We do not promote critical thinking in our young people. We don’t applaud intelligence anymore because some moron wearing a MAGA hat, does something hateful to someone for trying to point out a fact based in truth and science. So, you might tend to not want people to know your kids are smart because you fear for their safety.
Can you even believe I wrote that last statement? I can’t. God forbid that you try and argue facts or truth to someone who follows the Tool. They see the world they want to see. The racist, misogynist, vulgar world of the Tool. What a sad freaking commentary.
So, I turn on this wonderful program about a woman who exemplifies taking the high road, being strong, being intelligent, cares about others and despite all the racism this family put up with during their time in the White House, still believes that people are good. There’s better energy out on the road she has been traveling, than that we see on TV.
Strangely, I feel better about things after watching her. Sixty-minutes of my life better spent, listening to reasoned and positive dialog on TV. Holy crap on a cracker! I should do this more often. It’s too bad we have search on our paid TV subscriptions for something uplifting, eh? Why-oh-why can’t the press stop putting the Tool and all the Senate Tools in the toolbox, on TV?
I bet if we took him off the air for just one day, we would feel better. Hell, I would add that it wouldn’t even take sixty-minutes to feel the release of all the indirect stress that is killing America, flow out of our bodies by not seeing that bloated orange thing…
Right?
