Time to Die

The word, Death, has but one meaning: “the action or fact of dying or being killed; the end of the life of a person or organism.” However, Death is often applied to many things. For example, the death of an idea, a career, a business — the Death of America.

There is not much more that can be written about what’s happening. It’s all been said. It’s all been written, and by much more prolific, intelligent, and eloquent authors. The only time we can write something new is when another atrocity has been committed by this administration. This piece cites nothing new, just my opinion.

America is dying.

One of my favorite movies is Blade Runner. The original version with Rutger Hauer and Harrison Ford. There is a great line delivered by Rutger’s character, when he knows internally his time has run out. He’s fought his last battle on a rooftop against a grim backdrop, during a rainstorm when he whispers, “Time to Die”.

So, let’s talk turkey. The Death of America is real. The Death of Democracy is real. The distinct odor of decay, so slight that only animals could sniff it out is now becoming pungent enough for humans to smell. It is real. The presidential victory of Donald Trump in 2016 began this death process.

It’s amazing to me there is approximately 40% of the US population that supports Trump. They back spin and rationalize why they support him. What he has done for America. The economic growth. Any other reason except the real reason. They share his ideology. They know it’s wrong, so they can’t admit it publicly. These people come from all walks of life. These people believe in everything others believe unholy. They are unable to discern fact from fiction, living in complete denial and yearning for the past. They walk among us like Russians, sent to America to infiltrate our society. Kind of like a sci-fi movie theory of how Aliens from another world might takeover, using human form.

We all know you can’t make people believe anything other than what they want. Sometimes you can educate to create change, but they come to that change on their own. It’s internal, in their own time. There is nothing we can do about people that simply don’t believe there is any truth in anything. They create their own reality and then proceed to live in that reality. Of all the nerve!

If the Tool loses, his supporters will fade into the background and pretend they never liked the guy. They will not face any consequences for supporting the end of freedom. Their livelihoods are not diminished. Nothing. Hardly seems fair.

If the Tool wins, his supporters will take tyranny and ignorance to a new level. Welcome to the new form of government. I mean…dictatorship. I shudder to think. Wait, I might sound just like Trump with his fear-mongering rhetoric. My apologies. The difference is, I make this assertion based on the drama we are all living. After everything he has done to destroy the democratic process, I bank on nothing.

For me, there is no viable option to living under the rule of Trump for another four years (or more as he takes over). Watching all that is sacred go down into the fiery pits of Hell, is more than I could bear. At least at my age, death will come quicker than for most. I might have to climb on a rooftop, in the rain, and whisper …. Time to die.
